Linguistic Highlighting: Prepositions
INCLUDED IN:
Prepositions are like little tinker-toys you can use to attach relational structures to your nouns and verbs:
For example, whenever your character “goes,” the prepositions “to” and “from” allow you to attach an origin and destination to the verb. Whenever your character “climbs,” the words “into” or “onto” or “over” give them a place to go.
By visualizing the prepositions on the page, you can see the emergent structure of your sentences, and make informed decisions about the complexity of those sentences. To many prepositions… or too many of the same prepositions used too closely together, can make for confusing prose.
To learn more about how Shaxpir identifies prepositions, read the article How Part of Speech Analysis Works in the Shaxpir Guidebook.
The Preposition Highlighter is just one of the many Linguistic Highlighters we offer exclusively to Shaxpir Pro users.
